Wicked Appetite, By Janet Evanovich

Life in Marblehead has had a pleasant predictability, until Diesel arrives. Rumor has it that a collection of priceless ancient relics representing the Seven Deadly Sins have made their way to Boston’s North Shore. Partnered with pastry chef Lizzie Tucker, Diesel bullies and charms his way through historic Salem to track them down–and his criminal mastermind cousin Gerewulf Grimorie. The black-haired, black-hearted Wulf is on the hunt for the relic representing gluttony. Caught in a race against time, Diesel and Lizzie soon find out that more isn’t always better, as they battle Wulf and the first of the deadly sins. With delectable characters and non-stop thrills that have made Janet Evanovich a household name, Wicked Appetite will leave you hungry for more.

I want to start off this review by stating that I am a huge Janet Evanovich fan. I have read her Stephanie Plum series three times, and will start on a fourth run shortly so that I am prepared for the newest book in the series, which comes out later this year. If you enjoyed the Plum books, it is fairly safe to assume that you will enjoy Wicked Appetite. The writing style is very similar, and the characters are (mostly) very likable. The main character, Lizzy, could have been Stephanie Plum’s sister! They are both accident prone and quite fond of junk food. However, Lizzy, unlike Stephanie, is a successful and talented baker and by the end of the book, I really wanted cupcakes!!! Diesel, a character we meet briefly in the Plum series, is fully of mystery and intrigue. The relationship between Diesel and Lizzy never seems to have a dull moment! The story kept me interested and entertained all the way through. I finished it in a matter of hours on a lazy day at home. I am now really looking forward to reading the next book in the series, Wicked Business, and can’t wait to see the adventures that Lizzy and Diesel have this time around!

Janet Evanovich is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Stephanie Plum series, the Lizzy and Diesel series, twelve romance novels, the Alexandra Barnaby novels and Troublemaker graphic novel, How I Write: Secrets of a Bestselling Author, as well as the Fox and O’Hare series with co-author Lee Goldberg.

She cannot write book three fast enough! I know I had Wicked Business, but when I went to look for it, all I had were two copies of Wicked Appetite. I had planned to send them to your step-sister. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Stephanie Plums! Another series you and your absolute peach of a wife should read is JD Robb’s (Nora Roberts) “In Death” series.

She’s reading Wicked Business right now, and we already have an Advanced Reading Copy of Wicked Charm.

OMG(oodness)! How did you manage that? As you used to say about 20 years ago, “Cool beans!” David has a couple of writers who have sent him advanced reading copies.

I think I have about twenty eARCs in my to be read pile. This week/weekend I’m going to finish up Weird Space: The Baba Yaga, Chronicle Z, Dexter is Dead and start Alive, by Scott Sigler. I picked up an autographed ARC from him at Phoenix Comicon.
Of course, It’ll be a short weekend with everything happening on the 13th.
